Daily Routines

Morning Routine

  • Look at a calendar. 
  • What is today’s date? 
  • Check the weather outside. 
  • Write in your journal:
    • It is __________.(day)
    • The weather is ________.
    • I will __________. (What will you do today?)   

Reading

  • Practice reading the Sight Word stories that are posted in the folder. 
  • Complete the weekly CVC word list activities that are posted in the folder. 
  • Work on IXL Language Arts.  Everyone was given a password in their Goldie Binder.
  • Have a family member read you a story. 
    • Discuss the characters, setting, and main events.
    • What happened at the beginning, middle, and end?
    • What connection can you make to the story?
    • What was your favorite part?
    • Can you think of a different ending?  

Writing

  • Choose something to write about using descriptive language. 
  • The following sentence starters can be used if appropriate:  
    • It looks like ____.     It sounds like _____.  It tastes like_____.  
    • It feels like ______.  It smells______. 
  • The students can use other sentence starters as well. 
  • Draw a picture to go with the writing.
  • On a dry erase board or paper, practice writing your first and last name.  
  • On a dry erase board or paper, practice writing the lowercase letters.  
  • On a dry erase board or paper, write as many sight words as you can think of.  Each day, challenge yourself to learn to write another sight word by memory.  (See list in your Goldie Binder)

Math

  • Practice counting to 100.
  • Complete Roll and Record. (See Teacher Page for Copy) 
  • Number Sense with Ten Frame.  (See Teacher Page for Copy)
    • Have someone call out a number from 0-10.
    • Put that many pennies or small tokens on the Ten Frame.  Repeat.
  • Extension-Build It Change It
    • Have someone call out a number from 0-10. 
    • Put that many pennies or tokens on the Ten Frame.
    • Have them call out a new number. 
    • Change the Ten Frame to the new number. 
    • How did you do it?  How many did you have to take away or add?  Repeat.
  • Work online with IXL Math.  Everyone was given a password in their Goldie Binder.
  • Work online with Dreambox.  Everyone was given a password in their Goldie Binder.

IBPYP Planner: How We Organize Ourselves

  • Brainstorm with a family member the different jobs in the community.  Choose one job each day to draw and write about it - Example-teacher, doctor, chef, farmer, firefighter, etc…
  • Discuss that people have jobs to earn money to purchase items. 
  • Have your child make a list of items that they have seen a family member purchase.
