June 7 - We've made it!  After 12 weeks, we have reached the end of our First Grade year!  I am so proud of our kids for their continued hard work and so thankful to our parents for the amazing job you did keeping the learning going.  This week, I have not posted a choice board.  Instead, I offer an End of the Year Memory Book for your child to complete throughout this week.  Talk with your child about the things they loved about our year and the wonderful memories we made - both in and out of the building.  It has been my honor to partner with you this year and wish you all the very best!  We will stay in touch this summer and probably in years to come!  I hope you have a relaxing summer!
PS - I plan to continue to post things to our website, Seesaw and RAZ Kids through the summer, if you're interested in continuing to work with your child.  If you want to give them (and yourself!) a break, that is perfectly understandable!  Just know it's here if you need it!

May 24 - I have returned to the Origo lesson format on this week's choice board.  It has a very good review of place value.  Encourage your child to work through the lessons each day.

May 13 - Yesterday, our subscription to Bookflix ended, but I was able to extend it until June 30.  Please note the username/password have not changed.  It is now: Learning20/Clifford.  Also, thank you to those who have signed up to try Happy Numbers!  I've heard from a few of you and the kids seem to love it!

May 11 - Today I added a link for a new math program called Happy Numbers!  Happy Numbers is an individualized PK-5 online math for remote learning at home. It combines technology with the latest educational research to ensure grade readiness and a deep understanding of math. I think the kids will love it and benefit from it, along with DreamBox and IXL.  It is in the Home Learning section, under MATH.

April 21, 2020 - This is an amazing Google doc of songs and activities to support 1st grade math skills and concepts.  It's a lot, but take your time and click around - I know you'll find something that your child will enjoy and learn from!  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tDwQJ_1qfqE4IooA-mNwGu4E13V_MvOjAwY3Rw1iTtk/edit?usp=sharing

April 12, 2020 - Wideopenschool.org is a great source of information provided by a group of more than 25 organizations that have come together to help parents, teachers and kids while we navigate online distance learning.  It includes resources that are available both on and offline and also support bilingual and English-language learners.  Check it out!

April 6, 2020 - April is Poetry Month!  Be sure to check out the various kinds of simple poetry templates in the files section of our webpage.  Encourage your child to express him/herself through poetry - you might be amazed at what he/she creates!
Here's a great article about poetry and children:  https://www.readingrockets.org/calendar/poetry

March 23, 2020 - Here is an amazing resource for you from Time for Kids!  It is great for covering non-fiction science and social studies topics!  You will need to register your child, using the Time for Kids K-1 selection, and then click the library to see a ton of interesting  articles for you and your child to read together!  There are even some quizzes or worksheets to support, I think...check it out!
