Letter from Ms Menjivar

Hello Rosa Parks Families,

It is with great excitement and an honor to join the Golden Eagles as the newly appointed Assistant Principal of Rosa Parks Elementary School.  I am looking forward to assisting Ms. Danielson in making the 2020-2021 a great school year.

My journey started as a teacher assistant at a public Montessori school for grades 1st to 3rd in Arlington Public Schools. When joining Prince William County Public Schools, I taught second grade at Yorkshire Elementary. I later joined Mary Williams where I taught first and third grade. I also served as the lead mentor for the new teacher program before joining the administrative team at Neabsco Elementary. This summer I was the virtual summer school Principal for Loch Lomond Elementary. One of my greatest passion as a leader is helping to build teacher leaders.

I received a B.A. in Elementary Education from George Mason University, a master’s degree in Elementary Education and an Educational Specialist degree in school administration from Liberty University.  I also pursued an endorsement in Gifted Education through Curry University.

I believe in a collaborative school environment that empowers teachers and students to work together to make great things happen.  I also believe that partnerships with parents and the community are essential to enriching the experience at Rosa Parks Elementary School.

During my free time, I enjoy reading, painting, and spending time with my family, which includes my husband Guillermo and our furry and feather babies.

I am looking forward to a great school year!

Maria Menjivar
